Fall 2011 Cross Country

We are so excited to have our cross country team back this season. We had great competition last year from other schools and we certainly hope to have everyone back this season along with new athletes and other teams!
Here's our schedule:

Monday 8/29/11 5pm Organizational meeting @ Mitch Park located between Santa Fe and Kelly off of Covell (far west pavilion). Bring a copy of your child's birth certificate.

Tuesday 8/30/11 5pm Practice @ Mitch Park

Thursday 9/1/11 5pm 1 mile race @ Mitch Park

Tuesday 9/6/11 5pm Practice @ Mitch Park

Thursday 9/8/11 4:15pm 1 mile race @ Cottonwood Flats in Guthrie

Tuesday 9/13/11 5pm Practice @ Mitch Park

Thursday 9/15/11 5pm 1 mile race @ Mitch Park

Monday 9/27/11 5pm Practice @ Mitch Park

Thursday 9/29/11 5pm 1 mile race @ Mitch Park

Further details:

A competitive cross country club for grades K - 6th. The distance is 1 mile in length.

ETC is a member of USA Track & Field.

All practices will be held at Mitch Park in Edmond from 5-6pm.

1501 West Covell Street in Edmond, OK—we will meet at the far west pavilion (just north of the MAC Center and near the big playground).

3 races will be held at Mitch Park. 1 race will be held at Cottonwood Flats in Guthrie (west of downtown Guthrie).

$100 to join Edmond Track Club (ETC) which includes all practices, all meets, club membership, and a club t-shirt.

Non-club members are welcome to compete in the meets. Each athlete must bring a copy of birth certificate at a cost of $5 per race.

The practice and meet schedules are tentative. It is tentative due to unpredictable weather conditions and changes to high school athletic schedules. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding.

Registration for all races begins at 4:30pm on race days at Mitch Park.

We encourage all parents to run with their athletes.

Hershey's Track Meet in Edmond is cancelled

The city of Edmond has informed us that the Hershey's track meet scheduled for Sunday May 1, 2011 @ 1pm is cancelled due to the weather. The Edmond Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for rescheduling if they decide to. Please contact them with any questions. Their phone number is: 405-216-7638.

5/2 update The city posted a sign stating they will not reschedule the track meet. If you are interested in entering your athlete in another Hershey Track Meet, you can view the options available by visiting www.hersheytrackandfield.com click on Track Meet Central at the top right. Then click on "Find a Track Meet" on the left side menu. Here's a link that should take you directly to where the above directions will get:

Please keep in mind that the individual cities host these meets, not ETC.

No High Jump At Today's Meet

Due to the high, gusty winds we had yesterday, the high jump pit had to be moved indoors. Therefore, we will not be offering it during today's meet. Everything is will go as scheduled. Hope to see you there today! It's looking to be a beautiful, sunny afternoon.

Track Meet Order of Events

The following is the order of events at each meet. Division I includes K-2nd graders; Division II is 3rd & 4th graders; Division III will be 5th & 6th graders. Each division is further separated by boys and girls. Ribbons are awarded to athletes placing first through sixth places following each event. Registration for each meet is from 12 - 12:50pm on Saturdays.

All running events take place first:

4 x 100 meter relay (Division I, II, & III)

50 meter dash (Division I only)

800 meter run (Division I, II, & III)

100 meter dash (Division I, II, & III)

400 meter dash (Division I, II, & III)

200 meter dash (Division I, II, & III)

1600 meter run (Division I, II, & III)

4 x 400 meter relay (Division I, II, & III)

All field events are done last:

Standing long jump (Division I, II, & III)

Softball throw (Division I, II, & III)

High jump (Division III only)

Organizational Meeting for Track Season 2011

Hi Parents!

Please join us for the organizational meeting this coming Wednesday 3/23 @ 5pm held at Edmond North High School track (home-side bleachers). We will have forms for you to fill out, schedules to hand out, and club t-shirts for athletes to take home that evening for those that join that evening by paying the $100 fee.

If you have not competed with us in the past, please bring a copy of the athlete's birth certificate to this meeting.

We will explain all details of the track club during the organizational meeting. If you are unable to attend this meeting, join us for the first day of practice the following week and we'll get you set up.
